When you begin a high protein diet for weight loss the dangers will not seem evident. In your search for the perfect diet, there are many fad diets that suggest increasing your meat intake as the best way to go. Specifically, the 'low carb' diets, such as the Atkins diet. The Atkins diet coaches you to stay on a diet plan that is high in fat, and low in carbohydrates. The idea behind this is that the most promising way of losing weight is by increasing the proteins you ingest. Can this actually work though? What you are about to read will tell you how you can best use meats to lose weight.
Several of the more well-known diets, such as the Atkins, easily prey on people who want to lose the weight, but don't have the knowledge to do so. When in all actuality, losing weight is nothing like what the fad diets claim. In fact, if you could just burn more calories than you take in, you could lose weight. Increasing your protein does not do this.
Do you think you can seriously lose weight by adding calories? I think not. You will however, end up packing on the pounds if you decide to try this diet. Also, not all meats are good for you. Most pork products, and ALL fried meats have a large caloric content. This is why it is doubtful that including more meat in your diet will help you to lose the weight.
Did you know that meat can damage your kidneys, and block arteries? It damages your digestive system, and large amounts of the meat that you eat ends up rotting in your colon. Meat is also known to cause harmful diseases like diabetes and cancer. So it is plainly obvious that not only can it cause you to gain weight, but can be harmful to the rest of your body as well.
To get all the protein your meat has to offer, you have to eat it raw or boiled. When you eat meat, in large amounts it harms your body long term. A high protein diet, if it could in fact help you to lose weight, would be more about the proteins themselves, and less about the source. You can get more proteins from natural foods, like nuts, seeds, beans, and other legumes. Not only will these foods provide the proteins that your body needs, but they can do it without all the harmful effects of meat.
If you must go with the meat diet, you should try to only eat red meat twice a week. Try replacing the red meat with fish, or you can also have white meats, such as chicken or turkey. When you cook the meats, try baking, steaming, or even stir-frying. Cooking your meat on the grill will not only keep the meat healthy, but it also gives it great flavor.
In the long run, proteins can be important to build your muscle tissues; you just have to be careful of the type of meat you eat. Always make sure to trim the fat off and prepare it immediately. You should always eat the right portions for your body weight to achieve maximum results.
High protein diets can be dangerous to your health putting a burden on the kidneys and liver if you continue with this diet.
